Descent

Not a bad film. If you’ve read my previous posts, you will know that I’m very interested with the ‘horror genre’. I’m always on the hunt for a good horror movie. So, any info just give me a shout.

While watching the film, Descent, I made mental notes of certain things. It wasn’t till I got home; I started to think about the film more. Have you noticed how most films use the same sort of stuff in them? What type of stuff am I talking about? Well in most, the main character loses some one close to him/her, I don’t mean lost in a shopping centre, I’m talking about death. And they usually die in a horrid grisly way. Obviously, the main character has problems dealing with it. So, as the film gets going you are led to wonder whether the main character is having a loopy turn or if something is really there. One of the biggest things to use in films are the jump scenes. You know what I mean, when something suddenly pops up on screen, you jump, and you try to act cool in front of your mates, telling them bullshit that you only jumped to make them jump. We all do it, so don’t deny it.

I’ll admit, Descent does have some good jumpy bits in it, but what disappointed me is that they were not that scary. Very few films have made me jump due to something scary happening. Let’s see, The Ring had those moments, quite a few of them, where I jumped several times. But, what I liked most about that film is that it played tricks on my mind afterwards. Now those are the types of films I enjoy; I like to be scared for days after. You could say I thrive on it.

Okay, back to Descent. If you haven’t seen it, watch it. Don’t expect a terrifying story like the adverts suggest. But it does have a good story line to it and I enjoyed the film solely on that. The ending made a change. At first, I was led to think it’s gonna be a typical crap ending where one tart gets away… but it ain’t. Nice touch to the end. I’ll shut up about it now; I don’t want to spoil it for you.

Has any one else noticed how bloody expensive it is to watch a bloody film? Over £6 for the ticket and almost £10 on nibbles, and that wasn’t bloody much, a hotdog, popcorn, and a drink! Bloody rip off! Plus, to top it off the seats were uncomfortable; hardly any legroom, and I have very short legs. No wonder I hardly go to the cinema.

Last thought:

It’s amazing how the body evolves… our bodies are designed to change with our surroundings… makes you think, what are we going to be like in the future?
